Are pillow top mattresses softer than traditional mattresses?

Pillow top and euro top mattresses can be softer than traditional mattresses. This is because the pillow-top and euro-top is an extra layer on top of the mattress for added comfort.

If the layer is made with soft foam, then the mattress will feel softer overall. Although some traditional mattresses can be soft as well, there is less material in between you and the coils and therefor a softer traditional mattress can break down faster and become uncomfortable if you start to feel the coils. Most traditional mattresses are made to be firm or extra-firm to avoid this problem.

If you prefer a softer mattress go for a pillow-top or euro-top over a traditional mattress as it will last longer.
