Why do my sheets pill or wear out quickly?
Pilling, those little fabric balls, usually comes from short-fibre cotton, microfiber, or low-quality blends rubbing and breaking over time. Long-staple cotton resists it far better because its longer fibres stay woven instead of fraying. Washing in hot water, overloading the machine, and high-heat drying speed up wear on any sheet. To make sheets last, choose long-staple cotton or linen, wash warm rather than hot, avoid overstuffing the dryer, and rotate between two sets.
