What is motion isolation and why does it matter for couples?

Motion isolation is how well a mattress absorbs movement so one person's tossing does not travel to the other side. It matters most for couples and light sleepers who share a bed. Memory foam isolates motion best, pocket-coil hybrids do well because each coil moves independently, and older connected-coil innersprings are the worst, sending every shift right across the bed.
