Do innerspring mattresses make noise over time?

Traditional innerspring mattresses can develop squeaks as they age, especially designs with connected Bonnell or continuous coils where springs rub against the connecting wires or each other. Noise often signals that the coils or the frame are wearing or loosening. Beds with individually wrapped pocket coils stay quieter because the springs are isolated in fabric. A sturdy, well-tightened bed frame also reduces creaking from the foundation.
