What is the difference between polyfoam and memory foam?

Polyfoam and memory foam are both polyurethane, but they behave differently. Polyfoam is springier and bounces back quickly, so it feels more buoyant and is often used as a base or a lighter comfort layer. Memory foam is viscoelastic, softening with heat and slowly returning to shape, so it hugs the body and relieves pressure. Many all-foam beds layer responsive polyfoam under contouring memory foam to balance support and cushioning.
