How much space should I leave around a bed frame?

Aim for at least 60 to 90 centimetres, roughly 2 to 3 feet, of clear floor on each side you walk past. That lets two people pass, makes the bed easy to make, and stops the room feeling cramped. Against a wall, one side can be tighter. Always measure the room before buying, and remember a headboard or footboard adds length, so a king frame can need more floor than the mattress alone suggests.
