King Split Head Medium Memory Foam Serta® Adjustable Bed Compatible Mattresses Serta® Mattresses and Accessories

Medium-firmness mattresses — often called medium-firm — sit right between plush and firm, which is why they're the most popular and versatile feel we carry. You get enough cushioning to relieve pressure with enough support to keep your spine aligned, making medium a safe choice for back sleepers, combination sleepers who change positions through the night, and couples who need a compromise between two preferences. Shop medium models from Sealy, Serta, Beautyrest, Stearns & Foster, iComfort and Tempur-Pedic across memory foam, hybrid, euro-top, pillow-top and tight-top builds — with free delivery across Canada. • Feel: medium sits between plush and firm — balanced and the most versatile of our four comfort levels • Also called "medium-firm" — the middle of the firmness scale • Best for: back sleepers, combination sleepers, couples, and most body types • Consider plush if you sleep on your side; firm if you sleep on your stomach or want more support • Constructions: euro-top, tight-top, pillow-top, memory foam and hybrid • Brands: Sealy, Serta, Beautyrest, Stearns & Foster, iComfort, Tempur-Pedic, Springwall & NM • Prices: from $171 to premium
Memory foam mattresses contour to your body, relieving pressure at the hips and shoulders while absorbing motion so you won't feel your partner move. They give a cradling, "hug" feel that suits side sleepers and couples. Browse every memory foam option below by brand, feel, and profile.
Serta mattresses balance comfort and support with cooling-gel foams and proven coil systems, from a name trusted in Canadian bedrooms for decades. Compare every option below by feel, size, and price.
Not every mattress can bend with an adjustable base — but these can. Every mattress here is built to flex with the head and foot articulation of an adjustable base without damaging the comfort layers, so you can read, relax in Zero-Gravity or elevate your legs with confidence. In fact, over 90% of our mattresses are adjustable-compatible, spanning memory foam, hybrid and pocket-coil constructions from every brand — NM, Sealy, Serta, Beautyrest, Tempur-Pedic, Stearns & Foster and more — at every budget from about $109 to premium. Foam and hybrid models flex most easily, while rigid, thick tight-top innersprings generally don't. Pair any of these with one of our adjustable bases, and every mattress comes with a 365-night sleep trial and free delivery across Canada. • What this means: mattresses built to flex with an adjustable base's head & foot articulation • Over 90% of our mattresses are adjustable-compatible — every brand, every budget ($109+) • Best constructions for adjustable bases: memory foam, hybrid and pocket-coil • What usually won't work: rigid, thick tight-top innersprings that don't bend • Pairs with our adjustable bases (including split-king for independent sides) • Every order: 365-night sleep trial, price-match guarantee & free Canada-wide delivery

How to Choose the Right Serta Mattress

Serta® names its coil systems for how the support layer is organised, which makes the name the most useful thing on the label. Where a name says zoned, the coil unit is divided along its length into sections set to different resistances, so the middle of the bed can hold your hips up while the head and foot sections stay softer under shoulders and calves. The 1000 and 950 Series 3-Zoned Coil System and the 1050 3-Zoned Coil System split the surface three ways, while the 1250 and 2550 Series 5 ZoneActive Pocket Coil System divides it into five, giving shorter, more gradual steps between firm and soft. Serta also builds on the 800, 825 and 850 Edition Custom Support® Coil Systems.

Two other pieces of engineering matter when comparing models. Best Edge® Foam Encasement is a rigid foam frame built around the coil unit, and Serta specifies it model by model rather than as part of any one coil system, so check the model you are looking at. It stops the perimeter collapsing when you sit on it and makes the outer few inches usable for sleeping rather than a slope you roll away from. In the comfort layers, gel memory foam has a gel component mixed through the foam, which raises the thermal mass so the surface takes longer to reach body temperature; airflow, an open cell structure and the cover do the sustained work. Moulded memory foam is poured into a shaped mould so its contours are formed rather than cut. You can also explore the Serta iComfort collection. Comfort choices run across Extra Firm, Firm, Medium and Plush.

🔢

Three Zones or Five

A zone count tells you how finely support changes from head to foot: five sections step in smaller increments than three. Which one reads better is personal, so lie on both. Our zoned support guide goes deeper.

🛡

Reinforced Perimeter

Best Edge® Foam Encasement frames the coils in rigid foam so the edge holds firm, and Serta specifies it model by model. That widens the area you can actually sleep on and steadies the mattress when you sit down. See our edge support selection.

Gel and Warm-Up Time

Memory foam holds warmth because it wraps closely around you. A gel infusion raises the thermal mass of the foam, so the surface takes longer to reach body temperature; sustained cooling comes from airflow, an open cell structure and the cover.

Firmness Choices

Choose from Extra Firm, Firm, Medium and Plush, and remember that a thicker comfort layer can make two beds with the same coil system feel different.

Frequently Asked Questions About Serta Mattresses

What is the difference between a 3-zoned and a 5-zoned coil system?
The number is how many sections the coil unit is divided into from head to foot. Three zones typically give a firmer middle with softer ends. Five zones make the same transition in smaller steps, so the change in support under your shoulder, waist and hip is more gradual. Zoning varies firmness by position along the bed rather than by how heavy the sleeper is, and more zones is not automatically better; a uniform surface is what plenty of innerspring buyers are after.
What does Best Edge Foam Encasement actually do?
It surrounds the coil unit with a frame of rigid foam, and Serta specifies it on particular models rather than across a whole coil system. An encasement is one way to firm up an edge; innerspring units often use a border rod instead, and pocket coil beds commonly use firmer or higher count perimeter coils. Whichever method is used the aim is the same: the border compresses less than an unreinforced edge, so more of the width is usable and sitting on the side is steadier.
What is a Custom Support coil system?
Custom Support is Serta’s name for a family of coil units, and the Editions are numbered 800, 825 and 850. Quote the full name as Serta writes it when you compare models, and take the numeral as part of the name of the technology rather than as something you can weigh against another brand. When comparing two models, check the comfort layers above the coils as well, since those change the feel considerably.
Is gel memory foam cooler than moulded memory foam?
They solve different problems. A gel infusion raises the thermal mass of the foam, so the surface takes longer to reach body temperature; it delays warming early rather than cooling you all night, and the sustained work is done by airflow, an open cell structure and the cover. Moulded memory foam is about shape instead: it is formed in a mould rather than cut from a block. A model can use both. If sleeping hot is your main concern, start with our guide to cooling mattresses.
Can a Serta mattress go on an adjustable base?
It depends on the individual mattress rather than the brand. All-foam and pocket coil builds generally flex better than rigidly bordered innersprings, because independent springs and foam layers can bend without fighting each other. Always check the specific model before pairing it. Our guide to mattresses on adjustable bases explains what to look for, and you can browse adjustable bases here.
What if my partner and I want different firmness levels?
Two options usually work. The simpler one is meeting in the middle on Medium, then adjusting your own side with a topper or a different pillow height. The other is a split setup: two twin XL mattresses side by side measure the same as a king, so each of you picks your own firmness.

Not Sure What Separates Two Serta Models?
