NM® Hypoallergenic Mattresses Mattress Selector: Find Your Match in a Few Questions

NM mattresses are National Mattress's own line — quality construction at honest, direct prices across firmness levels and builds. Compare every option below by feel, size, and price.
Hypoallergenic mattresses are made to resist the things that trigger allergies and disrupt sleep — dust mites, mould, mildew and bacteria — using antimicrobial and naturally resistant cover materials like bamboo and Tencel, plus CertiPUR-US® certified, low-VOC foams. The result is a cleaner, fresher sleep surface that's gentler on sensitive skin and easier on allergy and asthma sufferers. You'll find hypoallergenic builds across brands like Sealy, Serta, Beautyrest, iComfort, Springwall, Evergreen and our own NM line, in foam, hybrid and pocket-coil. If allergies or sensitivities affect your sleep, start here. Every mattress includes a 365-night sleep trial and free delivery across Canada. • What it means: built to resist dust mites, mould, mildew and bacteria • How it works: antimicrobial and naturally resistant covers (bamboo, Tencel) plus CertiPUR-US®, low-VOC foams • Best for: allergy and asthma sufferers, sensitive skin, and anyone who wants a cleaner sleep surface • The benefit: fewer allergens, a fresher feel, gentler on sensitivities • Across brands and builds: foam, hybrid and pocket-coil • Every order: 365-night sleep trial, price-match guarantee & free Canada-wide delivery

Answer a short set of questions — who the bed is for, your sleep position, your body type, where you ache, how hot you sleep, the feel you prefer, whether you want a pillow top, and your budget — and the selector narrows 167 mattresses down to a shortlist. It draws on the full range stocked here: Beautyrest (38 models), Serta (27), Sealy (24), Springwall (23), NM (17), Serta iComfort (16), Tempur-Pedic (8), Stearns & Foster (6), Evergreen (4) and Chirofoam (4).

Feel is the answer worth getting right, and there is real choice at every point on the scale: across these 167 mattresses there are 59 firm builds, 47 plush, 44 medium and 15 extra firm. Budget is optional — leave it blank and you will still see a range. Whatever the selector suggests, you can lie on the result at any of our seven Ontario showrooms, and every mattress here carries a 365-night sleep trial, which is the part that actually protects you if the shortlist is wrong.

How the mattress selector works

The selector is a filter, not an oracle. It asks the questions a good salesperson asks in the first two minutes and uses your answers to narrow 167 mattresses down to a shortlist. It cannot know the things nobody could know from a form — how a bed feels to you after twenty minutes on it, or after three weeks — so treat the result as a starting point rather than a verdict.

What it asks, and why each answer matters

Who the bed is for. A guest room, a growing child and a primary bed for two adults are three different problems, and the sensible answer changes with each.

Sleep position. Side sleepers generally need more give at the shoulder and hip; back and stomach sleepers generally want less sink so the spine stays neutral. It is the single most useful thing to know about how somebody sleeps.

Body type. Weight changes how deeply any given mattress compresses, which is why two people can lie on the same bed and honestly describe it as soft and firm. A build that reads medium at one weight reads plush at another.

Where you ache. Lower-back complaints often trace to a bed too soft to hold the spine neutral; shoulder and hip complaints often trace to one too firm to let them settle in. The direction of the fix depends on where it hurts.

How hot you sleep. Coil and hybrid constructions move air better than dense all-foam ones. Memory foam contours closely and insulates while it does it — a genuine trade-off, not a defect.

Preferred feel. Worth answering honestly rather than aspirationally. If you have slept well on firm beds your whole life, say firm.

Pillow top or not, and budget. Both shape the shortlist. Budget is explicitly optional — it helps with ordering rather than acting as a hard cut-off, and you will always be shown a range.

Questions people ask about the selector

Is the mattress quiz accurate? It is accurate about what it can measure and silent about the rest. It narrows the field using what you told it about position, body type and feel. It cannot tell you which of three well-matched mattresses you will personally love — only lying on them can, which is what the showrooms and the 365-night trial are for.

Do I have to use it? No. If you already know you want a plush queen hybrid, filter for it directly or call and describe it. The selector exists for the much more common case of not knowing where to start.

Will it steer me toward expensive mattresses? Nobody here earns more for selling you a dearer bed — our staff are not paid commission. What is true is that better-built mattresses tend to cost more, so a shortlist weighted toward quality can skew upward. If that happens, set a budget and run it again, or sort the results by price and work from the other end.

What if the result is wrong? Then it is wrong, and the 365-night sleep trial is how you fix it. A mattress needs a few weeks to break in and your body needs a few weeks to adjust, so any trial short enough to expire before that has happened is not much of a trial.

Prefer to talk to a person?

The selector is a shortcut, not a requirement. Call 1-800-631-4883, email support@nationalmattress.ca, or visit any of our seven Ontario showrooms and tell someone how you sleep. Our sleep experts do the same narrowing by hand, ask better follow-up questions than any form can, and earn exactly the same whether you buy the cheapest mattress on the floor, the most expensive one, or nothing at all today.
