How to Choose an Evergreen Latex Mattress
Latex beds come in two shapes, and knowing which one you are looking at is the first step. An all-latex mattress uses latex for the comfort layers and for the support core underneath. A latex hybrid puts natural latex on top of a pocket coil core, so you get the buoyant, quick-recovering feel of latex over the independent point support of steel springs. Evergreen builds in the second style: natural latex comfort layers over a foam-encased pocket coil, including the 1000 Series High Loft Pocket Coils with Bio Foam Encasement. Both are genuinely latex mattresses, but they feel and age differently.
Latex itself repays some understanding. Natural latex is tapped from the rubber tree and cured into foam. It springs back the moment you move instead of holding an impression the way memory foam does, and the pinholes left by the moulding process let air travel through the sheet. Talalay latex is whipped and flash frozen before curing, which gives a lighter, more uniform, springier surface; Dunlop latex is poured and settles denser at the bottom, which makes it the firmer choice for a core. Bio foam swaps part of the petroleum content of a polyurethane foam for plant-derived polyols.
Natural Latex Comfort Layers
Latex responds instantly rather than holding an impression, so changing position does not mean waiting for foam to catch up. It is also naturally breathable.
Foam-Encased Pocket Coil Core
The 1000 Series High Loft Pocket Coils sit inside a bio foam encasement, giving independent point support through the middle and a reinforced perimeter for edge support.
Low Motion Transfer
Individually pocketed springs absorb movement locally instead of carrying it across a connected wire, which is why this build suits couples and light sleepers.
Firm or Medium
Firm holds the hips higher for back sleepers, while medium gives the shoulder and hip more room, the usual preference for side sleepers.
