Extra Firm White Mattresses Chirofoam® Performance Mattresses and Accessories

Extra firm mattresses are the firmest, most supportive feel we carry — a hard, no-sink surface that holds your body on top of the mattress rather than letting it settle in. They're built for stomach sleepers, heavier-weight sleepers and anyone who finds a standard firm mattress still too soft, delivering maximum support and spinal alignment. Most use a tight-top or high-density foam construction (including orthopedic Chirofoam), with budget-friendly options that keep extra-firm support affordable. Shop Beautyrest, Serta, Chirofoam, Springwall and our own NM line — from $152, with free delivery across Canada. • Feel: extra firm is the firmest of our four comfort levels — a hard, no-sink surface • Best for: stomach sleepers, heavier-weight sleepers, and anyone who wants maximum support • Choose this over firm if a standard firm mattress still feels too soft • Consider firm or medium if you sleep on your side or want any cushioning • Constructions: tight-top and high-density foam (including orthopedic Chirofoam) • Brands: Beautyrest, Serta, Chirofoam, Springwall & NM • Prices: from $152 — an affordable, value-focused selection

Most of our mattresses come in a clean, neutral white or off-white cover — and since that cover sits under your sheets, colour won't change how you sleep. To find the right bed, shop by what actually matters: your size (twin to king), your comfort level (plush, medium, firm), or your preferred type (memory foam, hybrid, pocket coil). Every mattress includes a 365-night sleep trial and free delivery across Canada.

Chirofoam is a Canadian mattress brand specializing in orthopedic memory foam beds. Developed with input from chiropractors, Chirofoam mattresses focus on optimal spinal alignment and pressure relief for healthier sleep.

Choose from Chirofoam's Originals™ and Performance™ Hybrid lines, orthopedic memory foam and hybrid builds made in Canada, backed by the manufacturer warranty terms. Every Chirofoam comes with our 365-night sleep trial and price-match guarantee.

How to Choose a Chirofoam Mattress

Chirofoam sits at the firmer end of the comfort scale, and that is the first thing to settle before you compare models. The range covers two builds. On the hybrids the support core is a foam-encased pocket coil: individually wrapped springs of heat-tempered drawn spring steel, ringed by a perimeter wall of firm polyurethane foam. Each coil compresses on its own, so the surface follows the curve of your spine instead of levelling it, while the encasement braces the sides when you sit on the edge of the bed. The all-foam models reach a similar firm feel over a polyurethane core, with no springs in them at all. Above either core, firm comfort layers hold the pelvis near the surface rather than letting it drop below the ribs.

Firmness is a fit question, not a quality ranking. Back sleepers generally do best on medium to firm, enough support to fill the lumbar curve without flattening it. Stomach sleepers want the firm end, which keeps the pelvis from dropping below the ribs. Extra firm goes further again, and belongs to stomach sleepers and to heavier bodies, which compress any comfort layer further and read the same mattress as softer. Side sleepers run the other way: the shoulder and hip need somewhere to go, so a very firm surface can leave the spine bowed, and a medium or plush feel is the usual fit. If you want a firm core under a softer surface, a mattress topper is the standard route. Persistent or severe pain is a question for a clinician, not a mattress.

Foam-Encased Pocket Coil

Individually wrapped steel springs respond only where weight is applied, and a firm polyurethane perimeter adds edge support so the sides of the bed stay usable.

🎯

Built for Firm Support

Firm and extra firm options hold the hips near the surface rather than letting them drop below the ribs. Firmer is not automatically better for a sore back, so compare across mattresses for back pain before settling on the firmest one.

🤝

Quiet Under a Partner

A pocket coil absorbs movement in the springs nearest it rather than passing it along a connected wire, which is why low motion transfer is a strength of this build.

🛡

Heat-Tempered Steel

Drawn spring steel is heat-treated, which substantially reduces the height a coil loses under repeated compression. It does not eliminate that loss, but it is why the comfort layers on a firm bed usually soften before the springs weaken.

Frequently Asked Questions About Chirofoam Mattresses

What is a foam-encased pocket coil mattress?
A foam-encased pocket coil carries its support in individual steel springs, each sewn into its own fabric pocket, with a firm polyurethane wall around the perimeter. Because every spring is separate, it compresses only where weight sits above it, so the surface contours to your body point by point. The encasement reinforces the edges, so the mattress keeps its shape where you sit and where you sleep closest to the side.
Is a firm Chirofoam mattress good for back pain?
Firmer is not automatically better for a sore back. What matters is that the pelvis sits near the surface so the lumbar curve is supported rather than folded, and past a point additional firmness stops helping and starts loading the shoulder and hip. Back sleepers generally do best on medium to firm; stomach sleepers want the firm end. Compare a medium alongside a firm before you decide, and treat persistent or severe pain as a question for a clinician, not a mattress.
What is the difference between firm and extra firm?
Firm lets you settle slightly into the comfort layers while still keeping your hips level with your shoulders. Extra firm gives almost no sink: you rest on the surface rather than in it. Body weight changes the experience, so an extra firm model can feel merely firm to a heavier sleeper and unforgiving to a lighter one. Lie on both for a full ten minutes in your usual position before deciding.
How firm should a mattress be for a side sleeper?
Side sleeping loads the shoulder and the hip, so the surface has to let those two points sink while still supporting the waist. Most side sleepers are comfortable on a medium or plush feel, and a very firm surface can leave the spine bowed and the shoulder compressed. If you want a firm support core with a softer surface, a mattress topper is the usual fix.
Will a foam-encased pocket coil work on an adjustable base?
A foam encasement stiffens the perimeter, so a foam-encased pocket coil flexes less freely than an all-foam build, and compatibility depends on the individual model rather than the brand. Check the specification for the mattress and the adjustable base together before buying. If articulating through a wide range matters to you, a memory foam build bends more readily.
How long does a firm pocket coil mattress last?
Most quality mattresses are worth reassessing somewhere around the eight to ten year mark. Firm pocket coil beds usually age in the comfort layers before the springs, since heat-tempered steel holds its height longer than soft foam holds its loft. Rotating the mattress head to foot two or three times a year spreads the wear, and a mattress protector keeps body oils and spills out of the foam.
