How to Choose the Right Memory Foam Mattress
Memory foam mattresses contour to your body shape, relieving pressure at the shoulders, hips, and lower back while absorbing motion so partner movement doesn't transfer across the bed. The key decision factors are foam density, firmness level, and cooling technology. Foam density and firmness describe different things. Compare density within the same foam type: a polyfoam density figure is not a memory-foam durability threshold. If you sleep hot, compare airflow through the foam and the cover construction. Gel infusion can delay initial warming, but sustained ventilation depends on airflow rather than the infusion. Side sleepers can start with medium or plush for shoulder and hip cushioning. Back sleepers can compare medium to firm; stomach sleepers generally need a firmer surface to limit hip sinkage.
